About the Artist

Laurie Bartlett
Laurie Bartlett lives on Cape Cod with her husband Keith. She is a member of the Falmouth Art Center, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, and the Central Mass Pastel Society. A selection of her work can be found in the Little Blue Art Barn in Falmouth, as well as Nest & Feathers gift shop, also in Falmouth.
After raising two sons and retiring from a full career, Laurie moved to Cape Cod in 2017. She began devoting more of her time to learning about and creating art while enjoying the special rhythm of life near the sea.
"Drawing and painting have always been a part of my life, but pastel painting is something I discovered only a few years ago and it has stolen my heart. I love that soft pastels' forgiving nature allows for layering and blending until you get it "just right". The beautiful range of rich, vibrant colors make it hard to resist adding to my collection so it continues to expand. I also love using pastel pencils for fine lines and details. The hours melt away when I'm busy working on my interpretations of the natural beauty of Cape Cod and beyond. I have found myself drawn back to art with a new sense of purpose and the desire to see where it might take me."
